We stayed at the Salt Lake City KOA for two nights
which is conveniently located near the area’s light rail and a short ride to downtown SLC.
The Red Iguana restaurant was about 5 blocks away and since it has been reviewed by Guy Fieri it was packed and we had a long wait to get in. Tasty. We got mole negro sauce, which we used on left over chicken. We purchased chicken to cook at a full-fledged Mexican market in SLC.
29 May Salt flats near Salt Lake City

About 40 mils from Salt Lake City on I-80. 30 May 2014
30 May Elko NV Calif Trails Interpretive Center

The Center is near Elko NV on I-80. It focuses on the trail, which was used from 1841 and 1869. Interestingly enough, California was Spanish. We’re the emigrants illegal prior to that?
We met Blaine Benedict, executive director off Southern Nevada Conservancy, which managed the development of the Center. He told us about the long process to build the building and then develop the exhibits. Quite a change from his first career as a casino manager.
