08 Jan 2014 SFO to Cape Town S Africa

This was the start of a Cal/AHI tour to South Africa, begining in Cape Town and ending in Johannesburg.  We left on 8-Jan-2014 and returned on 22-Jan.  The flight to Cape Town went through Dulles (Washington DC) and Munich Germany, where we had a room for the 10-hour lay-over, and then an 11 hour flight to Cape Town.

We were at Asilomar for the Año Nuevo retreat.  We stopped at the beach on the way home. Lots of surfers out and some pretty good waves.

After the usual excellent buffet breakfast we assembled for Peter’s daily talk & position update.

Next was talk by naval historian Bill Cougar on the Columbian exchange. Very interesting.

That night was a gala show put on by the crew and passengers.
