Edinburgh 7-9 June

Our hotel – Edinbugh Waldorf Astoria – The Caladonia. A venerable Horel, recently refurbished. Lots of excitement – room mixup, misplaced luggage, and room door barred from inside by a misplaced latch. All sorted eventually.

Thistle on table in hotel lobby.

Amazing flower arrangement at hotel – especially giant allium.

View of Ediburgh from the castle

Cemetery for regimental and officer dogs at the castle.

Best part of Ediburgh IMHO is the National Museum where we saw a special Celts exhibit and a special fossil hunters exhibit that focused on the Romer gap – 15 million years when first tetrapods came on land from the water and no fossil record had been found. The gap was closed by a  Scot who found the relevant fossils on the border between Scotland and England.

Isle of Skye 4 – 7 June

Tigh Blath B&B our first Airbnb stay. Jacqui our hostess in the house built by her father. She’s an electrician, no mean feat for a woman.
