After a day of driving, we decided to have a down day in this lovely little town with hot springs. We were surprised to see how much volcanic activity there was in Idaho. We are staying at theLava Spa Motel&RV (15 sites) in a site by the river.

Arrived in Arco

Currently a home of some workers of Idaho National Lab. We arrived at Atomic Days, just winding down. John has gone off to othe rodeo. We came here to go to Craters of the Moon National Monument. We heard a great talk this evening about how COM provides information on geologic features on othe planets. We are staying at the Mountain View RV Park. We will go to COM and then head back to Jackson to (hopefully) retrieve my wallet.

We headeded out of the West Yellowstone campground back into the park by its incredibly busy west entrance down to the south entrance and to Grand Teton National Park.
We did a driving tour of the park (not nearly as much driving as Yellowstone) and did a one-hour (really 1.5 hour) very informative boat ride on Jenny Lake.
We spent the night at the RV park at Flagg Ranch – 2 mi south of Yellowstone, 5 miles north of Geand Teton – but in some park or other.

As we prepared to leave Mammoth campground, we found the “tame” herd of elk (from the Mammouth Hot Springs area) had come down the hill into the campground, including a doe feeding on a bush next to Nelly the Navion.
Afte packing up, we set off on a tour of the park’s hydrothermal features, including Old Faithful.

Later, we checked into the Yellowstone Park / Mountainside KOA in West Uellowstone for a great sunset.
